ZAGREB, Oct 5 (Hina) - Prime Minister Ivo Sanader recalled in his message Croatia's resistance to the aggression of Serbia and the former Yugoslav People's Army (JNA) and Croatia's victory in its war of independence.
"Because of our victims in that war, we cannot allow anyone to treat our recent past with disrespect. We will make our history on our own. We will not allow uncountable crimes committed on our soil and against our people to go unpunished or to be downplayed. Justice must be in the service of the truth," the PM said in his message.
"Today, in a safe and stable Croatia, founded on democracy, rule of law and tolerance, 16 years after the adoption of the parliamentary declaration, we are dealing with new challenges and accomplishing new goals... in order to give our independence and freedom new values suiting the interests of our society, primarily by joining Euro-Atlantic associations," Sanader said.
