ZAGREB, March 18 (Hina) - The year 2008 is the year of reform, Croatian Deputy Prime Minister Djurdja Adlesic said in Zagreb on Tuesday after receiving representatives of the Sigma Mission, whom she informed of the state administration and judicial reforms, the government's public relations office said in a statement.
Sigma is a joint initiative of the OECD and the European Union principally financed by the EU. It is aimed at supporting central and eastern European countries in their public administration reform efforts.
Adlesic informed Sigma representatives Julio Nabaisu and Teresa Ganhao of the Croatian law on civil servants aimed at protecting the identity of employees who report corruption and at preventing them from getting fired.
Sigma representatives said Croatia invested a lot of effort in reforms that are critical for the process of the country's admission into the EU, the statement said.
