Prime Minister Oreskovic visits Rimac Automobili

Prime Minister Tihomir Oreskovic visited the Rimac Automobili company in Sveta Nedelja, and after the talks with the company's founder and owner, Mate Rimac, Oreskovic commented that the had seen state-of-the-art technology and the kind of business spirit he wished all of Croatia could have.

"Mr Rimac has indeed surprised me. I have travelled the globe and seen all kinds of technology, but this is amazing," he told reporters after visiting the company's production units.

He noted that along with top technology and innovations, he also felt an entrepreneurial spirit at that company, which Croatia often lacks.

"I congratulate Mr Rimac. He is a man who has made it with the help of vision and enthusiasm," said the PM, adding that Rimac had the government's support.

Rimac said that it was not true that "nothing can be done in Croatia", as is often heard.

"There are a lot of good examples to the contrary. We are one of them - from a garage to a firm which today employs more than 150 people, exports to 20 countries on five continents and works for some of the leading names in the automobile industry," Rimac said.

He added that he had not demanded anything of the government except, as he said, perhaps assistance to attract large names in the automobile industry to open development and production plants in Croatia.

He believes that Croatia can become a centre of excellence and competence for new technologies. "Why should that not be Croatia? It's an opportunity," he said.

Asked how the government could precisely help realise those ideas, Oreskovic said that agreement had been reached to organise a travelling presentation for foreign investors.

Rimac said that the reason for today's meeting with PM Oreskovic was the possibility of bringing to Croatia one of Rimac Automobili's industrial clients who was looking for a location for new production units.

"I hope that we will be able to give a good presentation so that we can bring that company to Croatia," he said.
