Catholic, Orthodox faithful celebrate Easter

Christians in Croatia who follow the Gregorian or Western calendar were celebrating Easter across the country on Sunday.

This year, in a rare occurrence of polemic synchronicity, both the Orthodox Christians and Catholics celebrate Easter on April 16.

In his homily in the Zagreb Cathedral, the Archbishop of Zagreb, Cardinal Josip Bozanic, said that the message of Easter was that people should always look forward to the good, stressing that malevolence, present in several spheres of life,  was not the winning force, and underscoring that Croatia today needed "the power of Easter determination."
The mass in the Zagreb cathedral was also attended by Prime Minister Andrej Plenkovic.
