The building was purchased in 2013 for more than 11 million euro but to date has not been put to use.
State-secretary in the Minister of Foreign and European Affairs Marija Pejcinovic Buric underscored that the decision set the conditions to complete this project which has been on the shelf for four years.
She underscores that it is necessary to refurbish the premises and put them to use particularly since Croatia will be chairing the Council of the European Union in 2020 and Croatia will have twice as many personnel in Brussels than it has today.
The renovation will require around HRK 38 million and will be financed from the state budget over the next three years.
Once the works are complete, the building will house Croatia's permanent representation to the European Union, embassy in Belgium, consular activities and all other diplomatic offices as well as a venue for various functions, Prime Minister Andrej Plenkovic explained.
