Greenfield's FACC investment in Zagreb County opens up to 600 new jobs

A new production plants of the FACC AG company, a leading global manufacturer of advanced aircraft components and systems, in Jakovlje, about 30 kilometres west of Zagreb, will be launched in 2021, and the EUR 30 million investment will help create about 600 jobs, a news conference heard on Wednesday, after a meeting of Croatian Prime Minister Andrej Plenkovic and a FACC AG delegation.

The construction on the 128,000 square metres plot is expected to be launched as early as this year and the production plant will make parts for the interior of passenger and private planes, using top notch composition materials.

Croatia will produce parts that will be installed in globally renowned airplanes and airplane motors: Airbus, Boeing, Bombardier, Rolls-Royce, the Vecernji List daily reported noting that Austrian-based FACC intends to build a factory that will produce airplane parts.

The beginning of production is expected in March 2021. The new plant will spread on 12,200 square metres and at full capacity it will employ 600 people, heard the news conference, held after the meeting between Croatia's delegation led by PM Plenkovic and Economy Minister Darko Horvat and a delegation of investors led by FACC Management Board president Robert Machtlinger and FACC Supervisory Board President Ruguang Gang, who comes from the majority owner of the Austrian company -- China's AVIC company.

Machtlinger said the greenfield investment represented a new chapter for FACC and that by investing in the state of the art production plant, the company would additionally expand its presence on the global market.

He said that several factors were taken into consideration while making a decision to invest in Croatia -- highly educated workforce, proximity to FACC production plants in Austria, proximity to clients and access to seaports.

Machtlinger said this was the company's biggest investment outside Austria.

Croatian Economy Minister Horvat said the government was selecting investors who were opening quality jobs in Croatia, to encourage young people to stay in Croatia.

FACC is a global aerospace leader when it comes to designing, developing and manufacturing advanced aircraft components and systems for the global aerospace industries.

"As a technology partner of all major aircraft and engine manufacturers, we are collaborating closely with our customers in order to devise solutions for the mobility of tomorrow," the company said on its website.

FACC generated annual sales amounting to over 750,7 million euros. The company has 3,400 employees from 38 countries working at 13 international sites. The company is listed on the Vienna Stock Exchange ATX and part of the Fortune 500 AVIC Group.
