Croatia and BIH are improving cooperation in all aspects, we resolve open issues in the spirit of partnership and trust
After the joint session of the Government of the Republic of Croatia and the Council of Ministers of Bosnia and Herzegovina, the Prime Minister Andrej Plenković and the Chairperson of the Council of Ministers Borjana Krišto held a press conference where they reported on the most important conclusions from the session and answered several journalist's questions about current topics in relations between the two countries.
Prime Minister Plenković once again congratulated Mrs. Krišto and the ministers on their dedicated work over the past six months, especially on the reform processes. This, he pointed out, is very encouraging and makes Bosnia and Herzegovina a truly agile candidate for membership in the European Union.
He reminded that Croatia supported numerous talks at the level of European institutions to grant candidate status to Bosnia and Herzegovina, after the request for membership submitted in 2016.
Speaking about the topics of the session, he said that 32 items of the agenda were discussed, while a number of topics were opened under the miscellaneous item. The discussion, he explained, was structured in several parts.
The first one related to cooperation in the context of BIH's accession to the European Union and cooperation in foreign policy, and then they discussed environmental issues, infrastructure projects, border management, migration, civil protection, education, issues in the fields of labour, social welfare and health, defence and finance, as well as a whole series of other topics such as cultural cooperation, cooperation in tourism and agriculture.
He stated that last year Croatia and Bosnia and Herzegovina reached an exchange in the amount of 4 billion euros, which is 50 percent more than in 2021, and this testifies to the intense economic relations.
"There is no topic on the agenda between the two countries that has not been discussed today," he emphasized.
The goal of the joint session is to strengthen friendly and good neighbourly relations
The Chairperson of the Council of Ministers, Borjana Krišto, pointed out that today's third joint session of the Council of Ministers and the Croatian Government is another form of bilateral cooperation.
"We went through 33 items on the agenda, and under the miscellaneous topic we opened up all the issues that are of interest to the Republic of Croatia and Bosnia and Herzegovina," she pointed out.
She added that the session was held in a positive working atmosphere in which a number of conclusions were reached, which will surely improve the relations between the two countries.
The goal of the session, she stressed, was to strengthen friendly and neighbourly relations, and the willingness to resolve all open issues in the spirit of partnership, mutual respect and trust was emphasized.
