Croatia, New Zealand to ink working holiday scheme agreement

Up to 100 young people from Croatia annually will be able to study or work for a year in New Zealand, and as many young people from New Zealand will be able to do so in Croatia, according to an agreement on a working holiday scheme the Croatian government adopted on Thursday at the suggestion of the government of New Zealand.

The agreement will make it possible for people aged 18-30, holding the citizenship of Croatia and New Zealand, to stay in either country to work or study for the duration of up to one year.

Such persons will not be able to obtain a permanent work contract during their stay nor will they be able to work for one employer for more than three months. They will be able to enroll in training or education courses lasting not more than six months.

The agreement will be signed on Croatia's behalf in March by the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Australia, Damir Kusen, and the ministries of foreign and European affairs, the interior, and labour and pension system will be in charge of implementing it.
