European and African leaders on energy and economic cooperation, combating illegal migration, peace and security
Prime Minister Andrej Plenković is participating in the 7th European Union-African Union Summit in Luanda, Angola, on the theme "Promoting Peace and Prosperity through Effective Multilateralism". The summit, which marks 25 years of EU-AU partnership, as well as 50 years of independence of Angola and several other African countries, is co-chaired by Angolan President João Lourenço and European Council President António Costa. The European Union is also represented by European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen, and the African Union by African Union Commission President Mahmoud Ali Youssouf.

When asked about the possibilities of cooperation in the field of rare minerals, the Prime Minister said that they are important for the future, so it is normal that this topic is part of what will be discussed.
Regarding security on the continent, the Prime Minister emphasized that the European Union wants peace in numerous active hotspots, which is one of the efforts regarding the common foreign and security policy.
Speaking about Croatian development aid to Africa, the Prime Minister pointed out that it is increasing year by year. We participate both independently and through various other international organizations, and we strive to make our contribution, within realistic limits.
Peace cannot be built by rewarding aggressors
Ahead of the summit, a meeting of European leaders was held on the peace plan for Ukraine, and they discussed initial impressions regarding the diplomatic talks taking place in Geneva.
"It is important to continue to provide strong support to the Ukrainian people and leadership and to advocate for the preservation of Ukraine's territorial integrity. Peace cannot be built by rewarding aggressors, as this would undermine both the security of Europe and the fundamental principles of international law," said Prime Minister Plenković after the meeting on Platform X.
Strengthening economic cooperation with Egypt
Prime Minister Plenković also met with Egyptian Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly today.
Egypt is a key partner for the European Union in the implementation of the Pact for the Mediterranean, it was emphasized at the meeting.
The priorities of the Croatian EU MED-9 presidency and the importance of further strengthening economic cooperation between Croatia and Egypt were also discussed.
"I invited the Egyptian Prime Minister to visit Croatia, following our official visit to Cairo in February this year," Plenković reported after the meeting.
