More than 420 people had to be hospitalised for COVID-19 over the past week and more than 77% of them had not been vaccinated.

"These shows, from the one outside the school in Krapinske Toplice to the charlatanism of Sinj Mayor Miro Bulj, who said that children in local schools did not need to wear masks, which was opposed by local school principals, are completely unacceptable," Plenković said at a government session, noting that local COVID-19 response teams would act accordingly.

He called for opposing such developments, noting that they obstructed the normal functioning of schools and calling on Minister of the Interior Davor Božinović to ensure their normal functioning and enable other children to attend classes in line with epidemiological rules.

Minister calls on school staff to get vaccinated

Health Minister Vili Beroš said that the number of infections in the age group 10-19 had been growing in the last two days and that it was now on a par with the number of infections in the 30-39 age group, which had had the most infections on a daily basis until 13 September.

Considering that the Delta variant of coronavirus is highly infectious, and the fact that infected children most frequently do not exhibit any symptoms, Beroš called on teachers to get vaccinated.

The share of new infections in the number of tests done in the last 24 hours is 12.74%, and 628 patients are hospitalised, including 72 on ventilators.

A report on 14 September showed that of the new cases of infection, 82% had not been vaccinated, and 77.45% of hospitalisations and nine in ten people on ventilators had not been vaccinated either.

84.16% of doctors, 62% of nurses vaccinated

By 15 September, 52.38% of adults had been vaccinated with at least one dose and 49.17% had been fully vaccinated.

84.16% of doctors and 62% of nurses and slightly more than 66% of all medical workers have been vaccinated, Beroš said, adding that the number of new infections had continued to grow and pointing to the fact that most of them had not been vaccinated.

More than 420 people had to be hospitalised for COVID-19 over the past week and more than 77% of them had not been vaccinated, he said.
