Banožić: Sale of inadequate state-owned property continues

We will continue to sell everything that is inadequate in the state assets portfolio and where Croatia does not have a significant share in the management package but is a co-owner, State Assets Minister Mario Banozic said on Monday.

"This most often refers to co-ownership that did not emerge from some sort of privatisation but was some sort of state aid because at the same time it conducted economic and welfare policies to save jobs and companies that were not doing the best economically," Banozic said after signing an agreement to finance a project on the improvement of keeping records of and managing state property in the central state office for the development of a digital society.

Speaking of trends in managing state assets, Banozic added that the ministry had adopted a strategic plan based on which it generates HRK 280 million profit through the sale of property and business shares.

In that way the ministry is achieving everything it has set out to do, Banozic said and underlined that last year it achieved 40% more than had been planned.

"We are continuing to work according to plan, and the coronovirus and the earthquake in Zagreb have not significantly impacted the real estate market. We believe that we will achieve this year's plan in the first half of the year," Banozic added.
