There is no segment in which Croatia does not catch up with the countries of Western and Central Europe, Prime Minister Andrej Plenković said at the celebration of the Day of Croatian Diplomacy. The day is celebrated on June 7, the date on which in 879 Pope Ivan VIII sent a letter to the Croatian prince Branimir in which he acknowledged his earthly authority over Croatia.

Today, Croatia has realized everything that the Croatian people had wished for for centuries by gaining democracy, independence and a free state, Plenković said at the celebration in the National and University Library in Zagreb.

"There is no segment in which Croatia does not catch up with the countries of Western and Central Europe," said the Prime Minister in front of the numerous foreign and Croatian diplomatic representatives gathered in the Library.

All that remains for Croatia is membership in the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD), and then we will be able to say that we have fully rounded our international position, Plenković said.

"We are a generation that enjoys a time that is unique in the historical context for the Croatian people. We should appreciate that privilege", said the Prime Minister, adding that it is also the obligation of the generation, of all Croatian citizens, especially those who are publicly engaged.
