Commodity exports up 11.1% in first seven months
Croatia's commodity exports in the first seven months of 2015 were 11.1% up from the same period of 2014, with the export-import ratio being 61.2%, according to preliminary figures released by the national statistical office (DZS) on Wednesday.
The preliminary statistics show that in the period from January to the end of July this year Croatia exported HRK 49.7 billion worth of goods, up 11.1% or HRK 4.9 billion more than in the same period last year. This is a slightly lower growth rate than in the first six months, when exports grew at a rate of 12.3%, according to a second estimate by the DZS published on Tuesday.
At the same time, imports grew by 5.4%, or 4.1 billion kuna, totalling HRK 81.2 billion.
In the first seven months, exports to EU countries grew 15.7% on the year, totalling HRK 33.4 billion. Exports to non-EU countries increased 2.7% to 16.3 billion kuna.
Commodity imports from EU countries totalled HRK 63.1 billion, an increase of 9% from the first seven months of 2014, while imports from non-EU countries dropped 5.5% to HRK 18.1 billion.
The foreign trade deficit at the end of July was HRK 31.5 billion, 2.5% down from the end of July 2014, while the export-import ratio grew by 3.1 percentage points, from 58.1% at the end of July 2014 to 61.2% at the end of this July.
