Council adopts voluntary national review on UN 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development
The National Council for Sustainable Development held its first session on Wednesday under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Andrej Plenkovic and adopted the Voluntary National Review for the Republic of Croatia on the implementation of the 17 goals of the UN 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, the government said in a press release.
Plenkovic said the making of the first national review provided an opportunity to review activities that had been implemented as well as those that were yet to be implemented in order to meet the goals of sustainable development in the period until 2030.
The review includes measures that are being implemented and that refer, among other things, to the fight against poverty, empowerment of women and youth, ensuring inclusive and sustainable growth, and environmental protection, he said.
The making of the national strategy for sustainable development for the period until 2030 is an opportunity to integrate the economic, social and environmental dimensions of sustainable development into the strategy and accomplish the goals of sustainable development in the period until 2030 in cooperation with civil society organisations and the business community, Plenkovic said.
The National Council for Sustainable Development proposes measures and activities and follows, analyses and coordinates the implementation of the goals of the UN Sustainable Development Agenda 2030 as well as adopts reports for the purpose of participation in the High-level Political Forum on Sustainable Development, the government said.
