Croatia's retail trade increased by 1.1% in March on the year in real terms, going up for eight straight months, a record long spell of growing consumption since 2007.

According to preliminary working-day adjusted data released by the national statistical office (DZS) on Monday, retail sales rose by 0.4% in nominal terms and by 1.1% in real terms in March 2015 compared to March 2014.

The rise was somewhat slower than in February, which saw a 1.9% increase in consumption.

Final data which are to be released next week are likely to show an increase in consumption of 1.7% in the first quarter of 2015.

Throughout 2014, retail turnover recovered by 0.4% after two years of decline.
