The Economic Sentiment Indicator (ESI) increased in Croatia considerably in October on the back of optimism in the services sector, while the ESI remained broadly unchanged in both the euro area (+0.3 points to 105.9) and the EU (-0.1 points to 107.5), according to the latest findings of a regular survey conducted by the European Commission.

Croatia's ESI jumped in October by five points to reach a record high 124.6 points, the European Commission data show.

The ESI is a composite indicator made up of five sectoral confidence indicators with different weights: Industrial confidence indicator, Services confidence indicator, Consumer confidence indicator, Construction confidence indicator and Retail trade confidence indicator.

Broken down by those sub-indicators, Croatia's biggest rise of 5% was in the Services confidence indicator that reached 17.7 points. Also, Croatia's Industrial confidence indicator rose by 2.1 points to 2.7 points.
