Croatia's exports up 10% Jan-April 2015

Croatia's exports rose 10% in the first four months of 2015 compared to the corresponding period of 2014, the national statistical office (DZS) reported on Tuesday

The rise in exports accelerated in the said period given that exports' growth in the first three months of 2015 was 9.7% on the year.

Expressed in the kuna, Croatia's exports totalled HRK 26.75 billion.

Imports also increased by 4% to HRK 44 billion, albeit at a slower pace, given that its rise in the first three months was 7.2%.

Croatia's exports to other EU member-states rose 12.9% to HRK 17.9 billion in the first four months of 2015. Exports to non-EU countries went up 4.5% to 8.87 billion.

The imports from the EU rose 7.7% on the year to HRK 34.5 billion, while imports from non-EU countries decreased by 7.6% to HRK 9.5 billion in the first four months 2015 on the year.

Thus, Croatia's foreign trade deficit shrank by 4.1% to HRK 17.26 billion at the end of April compared to April 2014. The coverage of import by export increased 3.3 percentage points from 57.5% to 60.8%
