Croatia sends EUR 100,000 to Bosnia and Serbia each for flood victims

The Croatian government at its session on Thursday decided to send EUR 100,000 Bosnia and Herzegovina and Serbia each as humanitarian assistance for the victims of the recent devastating floods.

The Foreign and European Affairs each year has funds available for humanitarian aid to victims of disasters abroad, First Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Vesna Pusic said.

These funds can be used exclusively for humanitarian assistance abroad, Pusic said adding that so far the funds had been use to assist refugees from Syria accommodated in Turkey and Jordan.

"In these difficult moments we are sending humanitarian aid to our immediate neighbours Bosnia and Herzegovina and Serbia," Pusic said.

Later today, the Croatian government will hold an emergency meeting in the eastern town of Zupanja on Thursday to discuss reports on a state of affairs in the flood-hit municipalities and villages on the left bank of the River Sava.
