Croatian Government among the most active on Twitter again, in 2013

Twiplomacy, the research project of the Burson-Masteller US-based agency, showed that the Croatian Government has one of the most active Twitter profiles, among the 505 analyzed by that agency. These include profiles of governments, heads of state, ministers of foreign affairs and influential world leaders. The Croatian Government’s profile is among the most active Twitter profiles and is again on the list of the 25 best-connected world leaders.

Activity-wise, the Government of the Republic of Croatia came 3rd on the Twitter social network. It follows the Dominican Republic and Venezuela, and it confirmed the status of the most active Twitter account in Europe and one of the most active among governments and politicians of the world, leaving behind Barack Obama, US Secretary of State’s Office, the White House, the European Commission, UK’s Foreign Office, French diplomats and numerous others.

As regards the interaction with users, along with Fiji and Austria, the Croatian Government is among the world’s best communicators, at the same level as all European leaders, abreast with the Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk and the Swedish Foreign Minister Carl Bildt. The Government of the Republic of Croatia chats the most with other Twitter users.

In the category of best-connected profiles, i.e. those who share the largest number of contacts with other checked accounts, there are, apart from the Croatian Government, the Swedish Foreign Minister Carl Bildt, the European External Action Service and the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of Poland, UK and France.

The Croatian Government’s profile is described in this survey as productive, interactive and engaged. The daily tweet-posting rate of the Croatian Government is 33. Replies and communication with users account for almost 50%. Some ‘tweets’ were particularly popular like the one on establishing the Online Communication Department of the Croatian Government from January 2012, the news of the official Twitter verification of the Government’s user account from April 2013 and the welcome message on the occasion of Croatia’s accession to the EU on July 1st 2013.

According to the Twiplomacy survey, Barack Obama, Pope Francis, the White House, and the President and Prime Minister of Turkey have the largest number of Twitter followers.
