Croatian Prime Minister Zoran Milanovic spoke by telephone with Austrian Chancellor Werner Faymann about the refugee crisis.

They discussed the coordination of views on tackling the refugee crisis ahead of an emergency EU summit that will address this issue. The aim is to find the best political and financial solution to ending the crisis, Jelic said.

Milanovic discussed the same topic with Slovenian Prime Minister Miro Cerar on Sunday.

The summit, scheduled for Wednesday, will focus on how to help member states whose borders are also the external borders of the EU deal with the influx of refugees, on cooperation to that effect with Western Balkan countries, Turkey and countries neighbouring Syria, and on financial aid to the UNHCR and the World Food Programme.
