They discussed the partnership between Croatia and the US in many areas of common interest, including cooperation in international politics, in NATO and in energy.

Croatian Prime Minister Zoran Milanovic met with the Deputy Secretary of the US Department of Energy, Elizabeth Sherwood-Randall, in Zagreb on Sunday to discuss the energy situation in Europe and joint energy projects, the government said in a press release.

"They discussed the partnership between Croatia and the US in many areas of common interest, including cooperation in international politics, in NATO and in energy, with the focus on the energy situation in Europe and projects in which the two countries collaborate," the press release said.

Sherwood-Randall thanked Croatia for cooperation in those projects, and the two officials also exchanged views on crisis areas in the world, notably in the Middle East and Ukraine, and on the situation in Southeast Europe. Sherwood-Randall had arrived in Croatia as President Barack Obama's envoy to attend the inauguration of President Kolinda Grabar-Kitarovic in Zagreb on Sunday.
