Croatian PM calls for respect for prosecutorial decisions
Prime Minister Zoran Milanovic has said that decisions of the Croatian prosecutorial authorities should be respected and that he can't see why Finance Minister Slavko Linic may find himself in an embarrassing situation after an indictment was issued against his friend, entrepreneur Jozo Kalem, accused of economic wrongdoing.
Asked by reporters whether the Kalem indictment put Minister Linic into an awkward position, PM Milanovic, who was on a visit to New Zealand, said on Sunday that he could not see that "Linic is an awkward position.""We in the power should respect the decisions of the Office of the Chief State Prosecutor (DORH). The Office of the Chief State Prosecutor is not a paramilitary organisation or para-intelligence underworld, but an independent state agency that issues indictments. If a friend of mine is indicted, I would ask him directly: Is it true?," Milanovic said in his comment.
