Croatian PM congratulates newly-elected European Commission president
Croatian Prime Minister Andrej Plenkovic has congratulated Ursula von der Leyen on being elected the new European Commission president, the government said in a press release on Wednesday evening.
Plenkovic said that she could count on the support of the Croatian government and his personal support in addressing all the challenges facing the European Union.
"I am looking forward to our cooperation ahead of the Croatian presidency of the Council of the European Union," the prime minister said in his message.
The European Parliament on Tuesday confirmed German Christian Democrat Ursula von der Leyen as the European Commission President with 383 votes in favour, 327 against, and 22 abstentions.
