Croatian PM Sanader thanks Latvian president for support on NATO, EU accession

ZAGREB, Sept 5 (Hina) - Croatian Prime Minister Ivo Sanader met Latvian President Valdis Zatlers in Zagreb on Friday, thanking him for Latvia's support for Croatia's European Union and NATO membership, the government said in a press release.

Sanader said he was happy that the Latvian parliament would launch the ratification of the protocol on Croatia's NATO accession after the parliamentary recess.

The two officials discussed possibilities of strengthening Croatian-Latvian trade, notably in tourism, and of introducing direct Zagreb-Riga flights.

Zatlers said he was happy that Croatia and Latvia were friendly countries cooperating in numerous international forums. He said relations with Croatia were very important in view of the fact that it would soon join NATO and the EU, and its location.
