ZAGREB, May 18 (Hina) - Croatian Prime Minister Jadranka Kosor and Chilean President Sebastian Pinera met in Madrid on Tuesday, discussing Chilean Croats, cooperation in the economy, culture and science, and Croatia's prospective membership of the European Union.

Kosor was in Madrid to attend the sixth summit of the EU, Latin America and the Caribbean.

She told press there were between 200,000 and 250,000 Croats in Chile and that she and Pinera said they could be an additional bridge between Croatia and Chile.

Kosor said she told Pinera that Croatian ports provided possibilities for economic cooperation.

She said Pinera voiced hope that Croatia would join the EU by 2012.

"I said that as the European Union's 28th member we will strongly support cooperation between the EU and Latin America," she added.
