Croatian, Sri Lankan premiers hold talks

Croatian Prime Minister Ivo Sanader on Monday met his Sri Lankan counterpart Ratnasiri Wickermanayake for talks on the expansion of economic and political cooperation

After the meeting, the two premiers issued a joint statement expressing a wish to deepen and expand bilateral cooperation to new areas for economic profit and mutual gain.

Sanader and Wickermanayake agreed that future cooperation should be defined in the maritime, port and navy sectors, including shipbuilding, and that it should be intensified in tourism and industry.

The two premiers said parliamentary friendship groups should be formed and discussed possibilities of cooperation in multilateral forums.

After the meeting, the two countries signed an agreement on cooperation in culture, education, science, technology, and sports.
