Defence Council discusses strategic documents, military development

The Defence Council met at the president's office on Thursday for a session convened by President Kolinda Grabar-Kitarovic and Prime Minister Andrej Plenkovic to discuss the need to revise strategic defence documents and the development, equipping and modernisation of the military.

Defence Minister Damir Krsticevic presented the Strategic Defence Review and the Long Term Development Plan for the Armed Forces that need to be revised to draw up the National Security Strategy, the president's office said in a press release.

The Council also discussed the state of combat aircraft as part of the development, equipping and modernisation of the military, Croatia's participation in new UN, NATO and EU operations, and a draft national plan aimed at reaching the recommended target of 2% of GDP for defence.
