Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Regional Development and EU FundsGrcic: Working groups producing initial results

The working groups which the government has set up to improve the business and investment climate in the country are producing initial results as the Working Group for the Business Climate and Private Investment has helped clear obstacles to the implementation of a project worth 60 million euros, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Regional Development and EU Funds, Branko Grcic

Speaking to reporters at a presentation of the European Commission's recommendations to Croatia concerning the preparation and prioritising of project documents for the next EU budget period from 2014 to 2020, Grcic said that the Working Group for Public Investment and the Working Group for the Business Climate and Private Investment held their second meetings on Thursday, showing that they were on the right track.
The meeting of the Working Group for the Business Climate and Private Investment addressed three private investment projects and obstacles to their implementation. "One of the projects has been resolved. The project is worth 60 million euros, which is no small amount at a time when investments are needed more than ever," Grcic said, adding that he could not discuss details without the investors' approval.
The Working Group for Public Investment took stock of all investment projects with clear deadlines for their implementation and sources of financing and identified all potential obstacles to their implementation.
Grcic said that he expected that more investment projects would be carried out in 2013 than in 2012, noting that 2012 had been better than 2011. "This shows that things are getting in motion," he said, stressing that "a full recovery would first and foremost require a rise in private investment."
