Gov't pleased with successful negotiations between Meggle and Fortenova

Agriculture Minister Marija Vučković said on Friday that the government was pleased with the successful conclusion of negotiations between the Meggle dairy company and the Fortenova Group because the production and purchase of milk would continue, and many workers will keep their jobs.

The Fortenova Group said on Wednesday that the Belje Plus company and the Meggle Croatia dairy company had reached an agreement on the purchase of the property and production line of the Osijek-based dairy, so Belje Plus should commence its own production next year, and it is expected that about 100 workers will be hired.

We are very pleased that the production would continue, that a lot of workers will continue working and that the purchase of milk will be secured, Vučković said after a meeting with Fortenova Group Chief Executive Officer Fabris Peruško.

That is, Vučković said, an autonomous decision and the result of business negotiations of two business subjects, and the government will continue working on providing business conditions and reducing administrative barriers, which will allow investors to stay and the processing industry to develop as much as possible.

Vuckovic also said that in the past four months, after many years, a modest growth in milk production in Croatia had been recorded.
