Gov't says it will take every measure needed to protect state interests
The Croatian government said in a press release on Tuesday that it would take every measure necessary to protect state interests and that it was prepared to respond to any situation.
Prime Minister Zoran Milanovic talked today with his Slovenian counterpart Miro Cerar about the refugee crisis and the Slovenian government's latest decisions on the protection of the Slovenian border, the press release said.
The two prime ministers agreed to continue the cooperation between the two states in the reception and transit of migrants and refugees. The Croatian government will take every measure necessary to protect Croatian state interests and Croatian citizens can be calm because the government is prepared to respond to any situation, the press release said.
Cerar told reporters today that Slovenia would soon put up technical barriers and fences at certain points of its border with Croatia, which is also the Schengen border, to better control the refugee flow coming from Greece. He said he had contacted Croatian PM Zoran Milanovic about it and that the controlled and arranged transit of migrants by train across Slovenia would continue.
