Gov't to bring forward set of bills Tuesday to deal with coronavirus epidemic

The government will bring forward a set of bills on Tuesday as part of its efforts to contain the coronavirus epidemic, Prime Minister Andrej Plenkovic announced on Sunday.

So far 49 people in Croatia have been infected with the new virus, officially known as COVID-19, the PM told the press after a meeting of the national civil protection service.

"We are working on all possible scenarios," Plenkovic said, adding that the bills would be sent to parliament for adoption under fast-track procedure.

The two latest cases of infection have been confirmed at Zagreb's Dubrava hospital, as a result of which the hospital will be evacuated, the director of the Croatian Public Health Institute, Krunoslav Capak, said earlier on Sunday. 

"All I know is that two hospital staff have been confirmed positive, I don't know the details," Capak told the Dnevnik.hr news website.
