Government adopts 3 amendments to draft 2010 budget

ZAGREB, Dec 1 (Hina) - The Croatian government at its session on Tuesday discussed amendments to a draft budget for 2010 and accepted three amendments submitted by deputies of the Istrian Democratic Party (IDS) and the regional HDSSB party.

The government discussed a total of 72 amendments submitted by the Croatian People's Party (HNS), the IDS and the HDSSB. The demands in the 72 amendments were worth a total of HRK 4.751 billion.

After the debate, the Jadranka Kosor cabinet adopted three amendments worth HRK 18.5 million, the government said in a statement.

The government proposes that the re-allocation of budgetary funds be executed in keeping with a bilateral agreement with the Holy See and with the consent of the Catholic Church in Croatia. The government suggests that budgetary funds allocated for the Catholic Church be cut by HRK 18.5 million.

Under the government's proposal, the funds would be allocated for the construction of a student campus in Pula (HRK 5 million), the construction of two elementary schools in Slavonski Brod (HRK 9 million) and the construction of an ER at the Pula General Hospital (HRK 4.5 million).
