Government adopts amendments to tax law

At its session on Friday the government sent to parliamentary procedure amendments to the General Tax Law aligning it to EU regulations and the Misdemeanour Act, which foresee the exchange of information with EU member states relating to income and capital which should come into force with Croatia's accession to the European Union on July 1.

The amendments define and expand the the use of information obtained and prescribes that in certain cases information can be forwarded to countries outside the EU.

Another novelty with the law is that a single foreclosure document which currently exits in the EU will apply to Croatia too.

The government forwarded to parliamentary procedure amendments to the Law on Public Procurement which reduce procedures and removes some red-tape in procedures. Finance Minister Slavko Linic considers that this will facilitate the use of EU funds.

The government also adopted a bill on the theatre's act by which the director of the Zagreb-based Croatian National Theatre is to be appointed and dismissed by the government at the recommendation of the Culture Minister and not in addition to Zagreb mayor as was the case until now.
