Government decides on 3% salary cut for civil servants

Administration Minister Arsen Bauk explained that the wage scale for teachers would first be increased by 6% and then reduced by 3%, which means that in the end their wages will increase by 2.82%, he said.
At the same time the basic wage rate for officials, judges and other judiciary officials would be reduced.
A reduction of the wage scale for officials, judges, etc. would require amendments to an entire series of laws, so the government has decided to reduce the basic wage rate instead.
The government explained that these salary cuts would result in a "significant savings in the budget".
The government further noted that apart from the reduction in wage scales, these would be adjusted for employees in government agencies considered as state officials and in those agencies where this had not been done previously.
