The Croatian government on Thursday drew up amendments to the legislation paving the way for the resumption of the work of the two commissions, with one of them having a say in strategic projects and the other in managing companies of strategic importance.

The draft amendments, that were sent under fast-track procedure, envisage that the two commissions include a deputy prime minister, while the existing legislation provides for the deputy prime minister in charge of the economy. The changes were necessary given that the current cabinet led by Prime Minister Tihomir Oreskovic does not have the post of deputy prime minister in charge of the economy, according to the explanation given by Economy Minister Tomislav Panenic.

Under the changes to the law on strategic investment projects, the commission for strategic investments is to be chaired by one of the two deputy prime ministers.

Panenic said that currently 113 investment projects were in the pipeline and of them 47 were waiting for a green-light from the commission. Therefore, the minister asked the government to solve the issue regarding the make-up of this commission and the commission for management of strategic public companies as soon as possible.

The Oreskovic cabinet allocated 1.8 million kuna to compensate for costs which the National Protection and Rescue Directorate has incurred in caring for refugees.

The government adopted a decree regulating tariffs for remuneration for bankruptcy trustees in the procedure of bankruptcy of individual consumers, and Justice Minister Ante Sprlje said that the gross payment may range between HRK 1,000 to HRK 150,000.
