Government says some companies operating more transparently

The government on Friday adopted a report on the implementation of the anti-corruption program for state-owned companies from 2010 to 2012, which showed that some companies had improved the transparency of their operations.

"The report shows that some companies are operating more transparently, but should work more on their transparency when it comes to donations," Justice Minister Orsat Miljenic said at the Cabinet meeting. He added that the report would be expanded to cover companies owned by local government units as well, in order to get a fuller picture.
"It is very important not just to put a stop to crime in public companies, but also to ensure that people believe that the procedures are transparent and fair and that the best and most qualified people get work. This can't be done overnight (...) but I think that the trend is good and it will be even better," Prime Minister Zoran Milanovic said.
The government adopted a draft migration policy for 2013-2015, which aims to ensure that migratory trends benefit the economic and social development of the country. The document provides for establishing a commission on the integration of foreigners into Croatian society.
Also adopted was a draft action plan to increase control of tobacco sales from 2013 to 2015, focusing on inspections and health education.
