HRK 71 million for first five Fisheries Local Action Groups

Agriculture Minister Tomislav Tolusic on Monday awarded initial decisions approving local development strategies for fisheries.

The decisions were awarded as part of the Croatian government's Operational Programme for Maritime Affairs and Fisheries 2014-2020. The total amount approved for five Fisheries Local Action Groups (FLAGs) is HRK 71.04 million.

The programme provides EUR 350 million for implementing measures that cover the entire fisheries sector. It includes the measure "Implementation of Local Fisheries Strategies", for which nearly EUR 20 million is earmarked.

About half that amount, or HRK 71 million, is going to the first five FLAGs, while roughly as much money is being left for another nine FLAGs, which will cover the entire Croatian Adriatic, Tolusic said.

This was the first time that Croatian FLAGs were co-financed with EU funding.
