HRT to be included in organising distance education, material assistance to Greece faced with influx of migrants

The government on Thursday decided to include the public broadcaster HRT in plans to conduct school classes online in the event of closure of schools across the country due to the coronavirus outbreak.

Croatia on Wednesday declared COVID-19 an epidemic on its entire territory, and the HRT was now tasked with ensuring the necessary conditions for conducting distance education in the event that schools are closed.

In Istria County, schools will be closed as of Friday.

Education Minister Blazenka Divjak said that schools were well equipped for distance education.

Croatia to send material assistance to Greece faced with influx of migrants

The Croatian government on Thursday decided to immediately provide material assistance to Greece to help it cope with an influx of migrants.

The Croatian Interior Ministry will organise a shipment of tents, electricity generators, sleeping bags and blankets, which is estimated at €26,000.

The assistance was requested by Greece through the EU Civil Protection Mechanism.
