Milanovic and all Social Democrats support Juncker as EC President, some EPP leaders against

Social Democratic leaders of the European Union, including Croatian Prime Minister Zoran Milanovic, support Jean-Claude Juncker as the next President of the European Commission, but it seems that he does not have full support from his European People's Party (EPP).

"I think it's the right thing to do. The EPP received slightly more votes, Juncker's party received most of the votes and there are no party divisions. These are the rules that I stick to," Milanovic said on arriving in Brussels on Tuesday for an informal meeting of 28 EU leaders, who would discuss at a working dinner the results of last week's elections for the European Parliament and their implications.

Before the informal summit, Milanovic had attended a meeting of leaders of the Party of European Socialists (PES), who support Juncker as European Commission President. Milanovic described Juncker as "a pro-European, reasonable and competent person who is far more liberal than many of the EPP members."
