Milanovic talks with Merkel, problem with migrant wave must be solved on EU's external border

Croatian Prime Minister Zoran Milanovic on Friday afternoon talked on the telephone with German Chancellor Angela Merkel and the two agreed that the problem of the current migrant wave had to be solved on the EU's external borders.

The government said in a statement that PM Milanovic and Chancellor Merkel discussed the fast unfolding refugee situation in Croatia.
 
Milanovic informed Merkel about Croatia's efforts to control the situation in line with its obligations and at the same time ensure humane and dignified treatment of all migrants.
 
They agreed that the problem should be solved on the EU's external borders, according to the statement.
 
Government spokesman Nikola Jelic said Milanovic and Merkel had both proposed holding the talks that lasted about 45 minutes.
