National Civil Protection Authority: We will consider abolishing e-passes around May 11

The head of the National Civil Protection Authority, Davor Bozinovic, said on Wednesday that the authority would consider abolishing e-passes for movement around the country around May 11, when the final part of the first phase of relaxing epidemiological measures begins.

"Regarding Zagreb and Zagreb County, they function as a single unit. If we took that route, then we would have to abolish all passes by May 11. But that is not the goal. In these two weeks the aim is not to increase mobility beyond what was estimated when the relaxation of measures was discussed," Bozinovic told a regular press conference.
"Our goal is to normalise as many things as possible. That will depend on the epidemiological situation," he said.
Bozinovic underscored that it was necessary to go through the first phase of relaxing measures and then go on towards greater relaxation.
"As long as the epidemiological situation continues in the same direction, we will continue relaxing measures. We all share the same goal, but we cannot allow anything to jeopardise it," he added.
Asked why some shops at farmers' markets were allowed to reopen, while others were not, Bozinovic said there was no reason for them not to work if they followed the epidemiological guidelines.

Croatia's COVID-19 cases rise by 15 to 2,062, death toll rises by 4 to 67

In the last 24 hours, there have been 15 new infections with the novel coronavirus in Croatia, bringing the total number to 2,062, whereas the death toll has risen by four to 67, Croatia's COVID-19 crisis management team said at a daily news conference on Wednesday. As for the latest fatalities, those were four elderly persons, born in 1928, 1936, 1944 and in 1950, and they had had underlying health conditions, according to information provided by Maja Grba Bujevic of the crisis management team.

There are currently 19 patients on ventilators, two fewer than on Tuesday.

Since the outbreak of the infection in late February, 34,476 people have been tested.

Currently 269 patients diagnosed with the virus are being treated in hospitals, 18 fewer than on Tuesday.

To date, 1,288 Croatians have recovered from this disease.
