In the last 24 hours 264 people have been tested for the novel coronavirus in Slovenia and none have tested positive nor have there been any new fatalities, the government said on Sunday, officially declaring the epidemic over.

Sunday was the third consecutive day that saw no new infections or deaths, and only six COVID-19 patients are still in hospital. So far, 292 have been discharged after recovery.

Slovenia on Sunday officially declared the epidemic over, but some restrictions, such as social distancing and wearing masks where distancing is not possible, will stay in force.

Restrictions on large public gatherings are still in force as well.

As of next week a new decision will be in force abolishing compulsory quarantine for entry into Slovenia for a number of categories, including some categories of citizens of third countries.

So far, a total of 1,473 cases of COVID-19 have been confirmed in the country and 108 people have died of the disease.
