Plenkovic and EC Commissioner for Agriculture underscore importance of family farms

Prime Minister Andrej Plenkovic on Wednesday met in Government House with European Commissioner for Agriculture and Rural Development Janusz Wojciechowski for talks on the European Union's agriculture policy and they underscored the importance of family farms, the government said.

In addition to discussing the priorities of the Croatian presidency of the Council of the European Union, the two officials discussed the EU's agriculture policy and its potential, the government said in a press release.

With regard to negotiations of the new EU multiannual financial framework for 2021-2027, Plenkovic underlined the importance of preserving prospects for family farms and stimulating young farmers.

Prime Minister Plenkovic and Commissioner Wojciechowski stressed that absorption of EU funds for rural development and cohesion, new technology and ecologically responsible management of natural resources were the framework for dynamic agricultural development and for the rejuvenation of family farms, the press release said.
