Prime Minister Plenković participated in the "Human Dimension" panel at the First Summit on Peace in Ukraine. In his address, he singled out, among other things, the question of helping Ukraine in finding missing persons and demining Ukrainian territory.

Prime Minister Andrej Plenković is participating in the First Summit on Peace in Ukraine in Bürgenstock, Switzerland. About 100 heads of state and government from all over the world are participating in the meeting.

During the second day, Prime Minister Plenković emphasized the principle of solidarity at the panel on the topic "Human Dimension". He singled out the issue of Ukrainian children who were deported and taken away from their families.

Prime Minister Plenković emphasized the great role played by international humanitarian organizations, especially the Red Cross. Humanitarian aid to Ukraine requires joint international efforts where everyone can help with their experience.

Croatia is 3rd in the world in terms of the share of humanitarian aid in GDP - EUR 280 million has been provided so far.

The search for the missing persons

He said that the search for abducted and missing Ukrainian children and missing persons will not be an easy task and will take a long time.

"After 30 years since the end of the Homeland War, Croatia is still looking for 1,800 missing persons," added Prime Minister Plenković.

As an important part of the aid to Ukraine, Prime Minister Plenković singled out the process of humanitarian demining. Croatia has vast, internationally recognized professional knowledge and experience in demining, and sharing that experience can help Ukraine.

"Croatia will only be completely cleared of mines in 2026, so more than 30 years since the end of the Homeland War. This speaks of the complexity and scope of this issue," he said.

Ukrainian wounded in Croatian veteran centers

Prime Minister Plenković singled out the medical assistance that Croatia provides to wounded Ukrainian soldiers in its veterans' centers throughout the country. In veteran centers, wounded Ukrainian soldiers receive professional and medical assistance in recovering from their injuries.

"Croatia is willing to continue helping in its veterans' centers, which have specialized medical staff who can provide the best care," Prime Minister Plenković said adding that Croatia will continue to provide humanitarian assistance to Ukraine.
