The support of the Croatian people and citizens is a great honor and represents an even greater responsibility that binds us, said Prime Minister Plenković today in the Croatian Parliament, presenting the program of his third government. "We want a successful, vital, just, sustainable and sovereign Croatia", he stated five basic messages and the backbone of the policies the Government will implement.

Prime Minister Andrej Plenković presented today the program of the Government in the new, third mandate to the members of the Croatian Parliament.

At the beginning of his speech, he congratulated all the representatives of the 11th convocation of the Croatian Parliament who received or renewed the trust of the Croatian citizens and thanked all the previous ones who held this honorable office.

"On April 17 citizens voted in the elections for the Croatian Parliament and the Croatian Democratic Union won the elections for the third time in a row, convincingly," he pointed out.

"Such support from the Croatian people and our citizens is a great honor and represents an even greater responsibility that binds us," he said.

Despite the campaign in which the President of the Republic, with the support of the SDP, violated the Constitution, HDZ convincingly won again

Despite the campaign in which the President of the Republic, with the strong support of the SDP, violated the Constitution, with the involvement of numerous actors who were beyond what is polite, civilized and correct in the political game, which means enormous aggressiveness, disqualifications, the grossest insults, defamation and the creation of distinct polarization in society, and after eight years in which we were faced with numerous crises, the Croatian Democratic Union won convincingly again.

"The most important thing is that in that campaign we succeeded in conveying key messages and achievements to the Croatian people, the largest part of them, in the period that is behind us. Every government leaves behind a certain political legacy, and we can proudly say that our second government's record was growth in wages, pensions, employment and investments. And these are the most important criteria by which the success of any government is measured," said Prime Minister Plenković.

"Croatian citizens recognized our efforts, commitment to crisis management and endeavors to find a solution to every problem, and they did not trust those who only look for problems in every solution. They trusted those who care about social cohesion, about social optimism and those who strive to be inclusive, despite the fact that the opposition, when it comes to dialogue, rejected us back in July 2020," he reminded.

In the spirit of the messages sent by the President of the Croatian Parliament in his third inaugural speech yesterday, which come down to the principle of mutual respect and appreciation, the Prime Minister called on the opposition to try to restore the political dialogue in Croatia that has not existed in the past four years.

He believes, he added, that this time there will be a bit more political maturity on the side of the opposition.

A successful, vital, just, sustainable and sovereign Croatia

Regarding the program of the new Government, the Prime Minister said that it was drawn up on the basis of the program that the Croatian Democratic Union presented to the Croatian public before the elections for the Croatian Parliament.

After a very detailed consultation process with partners from the Homeland Movement and political parties that went to the elections on HDZ lists, namely HSLS, HNS, HSU, HDS and Mrs. Petir, as an independent representative, and Mrs. Vučemilović, who supported them after elections, the Prime Minister presented the political priorities for the next four years.

"We want a successful, vital, fair, sustainable and sovereign Croatia," said the Prime Minister, summarizing the program into five basic messages and the backbone of the policies that will be implemented.

"The government's program is substantial, high-quality, realistic. The ministers who are here are people who went to the polls, got the trust of the citizens and won. The winning team has changed to some extent. I expect the contribution of every member of the government, especially the new members of the government, and I expect our dialogue in this new convocation of the Croatian Parliament to be at the highest level worthy of the highest house of representatives and to show respect for each other, for Croatian citizens, our history, our institutions and our tradition of parliamentarism," said the Prime Minister at the end, wishing the representatives successful work in the next four years.
