Plenković: We continue to strongly support the Ukrainian people and leadership in the time of Russia's aggression
At a meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, who thanked him for his arrival and for the overall support of Croatia since the beginning of Russia's aggression against Ukraine, both at the national level and within the European Union and NATO, Prime Minister Plenković presented a new package of Croatian bilateral aid for Ukraine. He said that his visit is another signal of support for the Ukrainian leadership and people in the time of long-term and strong Russia's aggression against Ukraine. Speaking about the continuous support to Ukraine, Prime Minister Plenković said that in the past two years, Croatia has allocated over 200 million euros for this purpose.
Prime Minister Andrej Plenković was in Kyiv today, on a working visit to Ukraine. The Prime Minister was accompanied by Minister of Foreign and European Affairs Gordan Grlić Radman, Minister of Justice and Administration Damir Habijan and Minister of Science and Education Radovan Fuchs.This is Prime Minister Plenković's third visit to Ukraine since the beginning of Russia's aggression on February 24, 2022, and another sign of Croatia's solidarity with Ukraine, which today defends its freedom, European security, but also common democratic values and principles of international law. Croatia continues to provide continuous political, economic, humanitarian and military support to the Ukrainian people.
Upon his arrival in Kyiv, the Prime Minister participated in the unveiling ceremony of the Monument to the Victims of the Crimean Tatar Genocide, which was led by President Zelensky and Mustafa Džemilev, the leader of the Crimean Tatar people.
He then met with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, who thanked him for his arrival and for Croatia's overall support since the beginning of the Russia's aggression against Ukraine, both at the national level and within the European Union and NATO.
In the past two years Croatia has allocated over 200 million euros for aid to Ukraine
Prime Minister Plenković said that his visit is another signal of support for the Ukrainian leadership and people in the time of Russia's aggression against Ukraine.
Speaking about the continuous support to Ukraine, Prime Minister Plenković said that in the past two years, Croatia has allocated over 200 million euros for this purpose.
Croatia will also help Ukraine with its experiences in demining, Prime Minister Plenković added, recalling the first International Donors' Conference held in Zagreb last year.
He also mentioned energy support, and Croatia will donate five million euros to rebuild the damaged energy infrastructure.
He announced a summit between the countries of Southeast Europe and Ukraine, which will be held in Dubrovnik, and represents the support of those countries for Ukrainian peace efforts and European ambitions.
Croatia strongly supported, he reminded, the decision to open negotiations for Ukraine's membership in the European Union, and will also help with its experience, as the most recent member to go through negotiations.
