PM Plenkovic extends best wishes to Jewish community for Hanukkah

Prime Minister Andrej Plenkovic on Sunday extended his best wishes to all Jewish believers for the holiday of Hanukkah.

On behalf of the government and my own, I extend cordial greetings to Jewish believers, wishing them a happy Hanukkah. May this great Festival of Lights bring you plenty of peace and hope and the light of Hanukkah's menorah fill your homes with warmth, satisfaction, and unity of family members and friends," the premier says in his message.

Hanukkah is a Jewish festival commemorating the rededication of the Second Temple in Jerusalem at the time of the Maccabean Revolt against the Seleucid Empire. It is also known as the Festival of Lights.

Croatian Parliament Speaker Gordan Jandrokovic earlier today sent a message to all Jewish believers, offering them his best wishes for the holiday of Hanukkah.

Also today, the Archbishop of Zagreb, Cardinal Josip Bozanic, sent a message with his best wishes to the rabbi of the Beth Israel Jewish community, Kotel Da-Don, the rabbi of the Zagreb Jewish Community, Luciano Mose Prelevic, and Ognjen Kraus, head of the Coordinating Committee of the Jewish Communities of Croatia.
