PM Sanader, Haenel hold talks

ZAGREB, June 16 (Hina) - Croatian Prime Minister Ivo Sanader on Monday received a representative of the French Senate's Delegation for the European Union, Hubert Haenel, the Croatian Government said in a statement.

Sanader and Haenel agreed that bilateral cooperation was exceptional, the statement said.

Haenel stressed that the outcome of the Irish referendum on the Lisbon Treaty would not influence Croatia's EU entry talks. He reiterated that France strongly supported Croatia's EU candidacy, adding that he expected the negotiations to be completed as scheduled.

PM Sanader thanked Haenel on the support, stressing that Croatia expected to make significant progress during France's six-month stint at the head of the EU.

Sanader said Croatia was ready to continue implementing the necessary reforms, the statement said.

Haenel also held talks with the head of the Croatian Parliament's Committee on European Integration, Neven Mimica, and the head of the Committee on Education, Science and Culture and head of the inter-parliamentary Croatian-French Friendship Group, Petar Selem.
