PM Sanader meets senior World Bank official

Croatian Prime Minister Ivo Sanader on Monday received for talks Shigeo Katsu, the World Bank Vice-President for Europe and Central Asia.

The PM informed the World Bank official about the current state of Croatia's EU membership talks and measures the government was taking to overcome the economic crisis.

Sanader said that the government had adopted ten anti-recession measures, the most important one being a budget revision, to be made public later this month.

Sanader also underlined the need to strengthen the position of the Croatian Reconstruction and Development Bank (HBOR), which is expected to get an additional EUR 400 million in loans to help small and medium-sized businesses and the tourism and agriculture sectors.

Katsu thanked Sanader for the government's very good cooperation with the World Bank, expressing confidence that its anti-recession measures would have a positive impact on the national economy. (Hina)
