PM Sanader receives Chilean Senate delegation

ZAGREB, July 15 (Hina) - Croatian Prime Minister Ivo Sanader on Tuesday received a delegation of the Chilean Senate, led by vice president Baldo Prokurica, and the two sides confirmed relations between the two countries are on a high level, the government said in a statement.

Sanader said those relations were founded on the role of Chilean Croats and Chilean investment in the Croatian economy.

Sanader briefed the delegation about the situation in the region, saying Croatia played an active role in the promotion of peace and stability.

Prokurica, in a third visit to Croatia, praised the Croatian government's contribution to peace and stability in this part of Europe, and said that economic ties would intensify because of an interest to build Chilean ships in Croatian shipyards.

On behalf of Chilean President Michelle Bachelet, he invited Sanader to visit Chile, which Sanader accepted. He also presented Sanader with the Medal of Honour, the highest decoration bestowed by the Chilean Senate.
